Wokefield Estate Wedding Photography
History of Wokefield Estate
I’ve been fortunate to photograph two weddings over the years at Wokefield Estate.
In the mid 16th century, the Plowden family built their stately home at Wokefield in Berkshire. Then most recently, the De Vere Hotel Company purchased it. They transformed the Grade II manor house into a stunning conference centre and popular wedding venue.
The entire Wokefield Estate exudes history, romance and elegance. The 18th-century main house offers historic grandeur, and a homely atmosphere. In contrast, the new additions accommodate all the modern facilities and amenities required to host your wedding day. For example, the hotel can accommodate from 30 – 200 guests for civil ceremonies.
Photographing Weddings at Wokefield Estate
My favourite place at Wokefield Estate for wedding photographs is the grand entrance hallway and staircase. The high ceilings, chandeliers and fabulous paintings take you into another era. The light streams through the big windows into this magical part of the property. As a result, it is an absolute must location for some dramatically lit classic wedding poses.
When you enter the gate, the gorgeous estate comes into view, set within 250 acres of the finest Royal Berkshire parkland. As well, the manicured lawns, picturesque gardens and pretty lake are a big draw for newlyweds looking for outdoor backdrops.
