Getting Married at Micklefield Hall

I’ve only photographed two weddings at Micklefield Hall, and I’d love to return to this beautiful venue.

Micklefield Hall was built in the 1700s, parts of the house were later re-designed by Sir John Soane in the 18th Century. Micklefield Hall stands in 350 acres of fine Hertfordshire farm and parkland, yet is less than 25 miles from the hustle and bustle of central London.

The owners of this stunning 16th century listed Tithe Barn have recently completed a restoration of it. Before the age of modern farming, the estate owners used it to thresh and store wheat.  After 50 years standing empty, the owners decided to restore it for events use, saving it from dereliction. The extensive works began in 2010 and finished in 2014.

Micklefield also offers the option of an outdoor ceremony beside their waterside Temple. The area is gorgeous with colourful herbaceous borders and enchanting water features. It is such a pretty setting to host your civil wedding ceremony. You can choose the option of either a marquee or barn wedding reception.

The Rankin family own and manage the estate, and also live in the house. As a reullt this elegant Georgian country house and wedding venue has a lovely family feel. Micklefield offers total privacy and exclusivity, once combined with the truly enchanting setting it makes for one amazing wedding venue.

Photographing Weddings at Micklefield Hall

I’ve only photographed two weddings at Micklefield Hall. On each visit I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful venue, the amazing range of options for picture backdrops was great. The outdoor ceremonies by the waterside temple are fabulous for picture opportunities. For couples looking for somewhere quirky and unique to take their vows it doesn’t get much better.
