The Hotel du Vin in Henley-on-Thames is housed in a superbly converted Georgian/Victorian brewery. The Brakspear brewery company operated here between 1812 and 2002. Once Hotel du Vin acquired the property, they embarked on a monumental renovation project to make the most of the building’s heritage. The hotel has just over 40 rooms and suites, and due to the historic nature of the property it means no two rooms are identical.
Hotel du Vin offers a really cosy, quirky set-up, with an excellent bar and restaurant. It sits on a quiet characterful street close to both the town centre and the River Thames. And I challenge anyone to not love every aspect this charming hotel?
Picture laid back and ultra chic interiors throughout! Thrown into the mix wood panelling, wooden beams, stained glass, large chandeliers, exposed brick, ironwork, leather Chesterfields and deep coloured walls. The clever mix between yesteryear heritage and eclectic modern is superb!
It’s so great to see an old historic building being repurposed, and boy have this hotel group done it well!
Henley is one of those lovely scenic towns that has so much going on throughout the year. The riverside town is totally endearing no matter what the weather, but it really comes into its own during the warm summer months.
The Hotel Du Vin in Henley-On-Thames holds a civil ceremony license. The hotel has three main event rooms: the Lombard, the Henley Vineyards, and the Canata. These rooms can host between 30 to 60 people for a wedding breakfast.
Probably my favourite backdrop at the hotel is the courtyard. The heritage brickwork, old chimneys, characterful windows and old painted signage really does it for me! For this tiny wedding I also really enjoyed taking the newlyweds with their two witnesses for a short stroll along the river and through the town. The backdrops everywhere were superb, including our brief stop outside a bistro for a glass of champagne!
I know Henley very well, but I’ve only attended this one tiny wedding at the hotel. And yes, I’d dearly love to return to the Hotel du Vin for another wedding one day soon!
