A Beautiful Wedding Day At Old Luxters Barn, Oxfordshire
Emma and Ed chose the gorgeous Old Luxters Barn for their wedding ceremony and reception venue.
This stunning hilltop venue near to Henley on Thames is a dream location! It offers far reaching rolling hills, a divine vineyard setting, and a huge private courtyard. The high ceilinged 18th Century barn used for the ceremony and meal oozes with period charm!
The venue even has its own farmhouse for hire, plus an additional tiny little cottage next to the gorgeous swimming pool which Emma opted to use on the morning to get ready. I love working with quirky spaces surrounded by fabulous grounds, so this venue was dream come true territory for me!
What A Party
Emma and Ed certainly knew how to throw an amazing party, along with their closest family and friends. Also on the invite list were their adorable Sprocker Spaniels, Lily and Poppy, plus Emma’s stunning vintage Mini Cooper! Emma’s fabulous dress by Maggie Sottero photographed beautifully as well. I loved their vibrant colour scheme on the day, this really made my pictures pop with colour! And then there was the scrumptious wedding cake, wow! (Sugar Designs)
When I met up with Emma & Ed before their wedding, we talked the real chance of rain on their day. We discussed the undercover options that Old Luxters has to offer for rainy conditions. But I knew their hearts were totally set on lots of outdoor images.
Wonderful Weather At Old Luxters
!Come the day itself, the English weather was very much on our side. We were blessed with beautiful warm conditions, ideal for both the drinks reception and the posed pictures, phew! Emma and Ed are the kind of people that bring the sun with them wherever they go, so I was pretty confident that we’d be working outdoors on the day.
One thing struck me during the day – this couple had seriously cool families! The banter, laughter, interaction, and smiles continued all day long, this made my job so easy and great fun too! I loved seeing the love, support and all round encouragement shared between every single person at this wedding.
Blossom Trees In Bloom – Beautiful Backdrops
I loved using the blossom trees at Old Luxters Barn for some wedding portraits; these majestic showstoppers are always a real treat to feature in my picture backdrops during the spring months.
I even suggested that we return to the most striking blossom tree after dusk for another portrait, and for this dramatically lit shot of Emma and Ed I used my special flood-lighting. The resulting image was probably my favourite portrait from their wedding.
Thank you for laughing so much on the day, whilst trusting me with your picture memories. And for letting me bring my creative ideas to the table for the most important day of your lives! I loved being being a part of your Old Luxters Barn wedding!
Kind Words
We are over the moon with the quality of our photos taken by Mark, he has given us a fantastic variety of memories for us to keep. When we spoke to Mark about our requirements he gave us some suggestions and these were imagined on meeting at the venue before the wedding day. The extra work Mark puts in to make sure the photos are perfect is wonderful, the colours of the tulip bouquet popped! On the day, he blended into our guests but was more part of our gathering than just our photographer. He was very discreet in getting the right shots and guiding us quietly when needed. It was stress free and fun, just what we had hoped for, a really enjoyable experience.
Our guests were so impressed with the way he conducted himself throughout the day. A wedding photographer needs to make sure that he/she can get the attention of the guests quickly to ensure he/she can obtain the best shots in the shortest possible time without coming across as dogmatic or too bossy. Mark seemed to strike this balance perfectly throughout the day which was particularly important to us.
Mark captured all the key moments of the day and worked meticulously to make sure the photos were of the highest quality. He really does strive for perfection.
He was also very quick to send us our photos after the wedding.
Mark is a consumate professional and outstanding photographer! We cannot recommend him highly enough.
Many thanks Mark, Emma and Ed
