Dream Wedding Location
Missenden Abbey is one of my favourite venues for a wedding celebration; the setting is truly wonderful. This venue really is a wedding photographer’s dream location!
I knew from the moment I met Rhiannon and Scott that their big day was going to be amazing. And so it proved. with non-stop smiles, fun and laughter! Having so many children present also made the day wonderfully relaxed, and created one heck of a party atmosphere.
The abbey was bathed in glorious sunlight all day; thankfully the recent recent rains were nowhere to be seen for their special day.
Missenden Abbey
Missenden Abbey in such a wonderful setting, and the interiors and exteriors really are as beautiful as you see in my pictures. With its high ceilings, chandeliers, stained glass windows, and gorgeous landscaped gardens, the abbey is a truly breathtaking wedding venue. So I can 100% understand why Rhiannon and Scott fell in love with this fabulous historic venue!
The abbey’s history stretches back 800 years – but today was the opportunity for Rhiannon and Scott to create their own unique piece of history.
Civil Ceremony At Missenden Abbey
The Garden Room is one of those interiors that has the absolute wow factor, I just love this fabulous space!
When Rhiannon made her grand entrance coming down the sweeping staircase, there was barely a dry eye in the room! She did seem a little nervous at first, but those butterflies soon disappeared when she caught sight of her smiling future husband ‘Scott’.
The vows were beautiful and so very special, even I had goosebumps as I listened to them making their commitments to one another.
Champagne Reception & Bouncy Castle On The Lawns At Missenden Abbey
There was so much happening during the drinks reception’ I was having to dash from pillar to post with my camera to keep up with all the happenings! With the non-stop partying and children running around the big gardens – it’s quite the workout for me on a day like this! Although I did love every minute of it, and I’m not one to miss a picture opportunity.
With so many children in attendance with boundless energy, they were thrilled to see that a bouncy castle had been laid on for their entertainment! This attraction was the place to be for the under 12s, and they just loved every moment on this inflatable playground.
Pictures In The Grounds Of The Abbey
There are just so many options for pictures at the abbey, but this has to be a good thing! With every couple I do a pre wedding walk around at the venue, this really helps me to understand the each couple’s requirements. Rhiannon and Scott asked me to capture as many natural images as possible of the children, then everything else was bonus territory.
On the day, I did a 15 minute walk around the venue grounds with the newlyweds and their attendants to cover most of the wow backdrops. Part of this walk included the incredible 350 year old cedar tree, this tree frames the abbey perfectly for picture opportunities. Next on our walk was the flint folly in the grounds, this building has a wonderful rustic charm and great atmospheric lighting. Not being one to miss a picture moment, I also captured some great shots of the newlyweds as they strolled the short distances between the various locations.
Speeches In The Abbey’s Garden Room
These were held on the grand staircase, this room so lends itself to the speeches. The acoustics in this high ceilinged room are perfect, plus the fact that the speakers are positioned just above the watching wedding guests.
All the speakers did a fabulous job, and there were no nerves whatsoever! With lots of appreciative laughter from the enthralled wedding guests, these speeches went down a storm as past memories of the newlyweds were shared.
The speeches are one of my favourite events during the wedding day, the candid opportunities of the speakers and the audience are endless!
Evening Reception & Floodlit Pictures
Prior to Rhiannon and Scott’s first dance, the children had already staked their claim for the dancefloor. The memorising sights and sounds of the disco were now far more fascinating than the bouncy castle, their non stop dance moves certainly set the scene for the rest of the evening. Once the dancefloor was cleared, the newlyweds stepped up to the central area for their wonderful first dance. Soon afterwards to party kicked up a gear or two as the children and many others joined them on the dancefloor, for the rest of the evening this party crowd did not miss a beat!
Before I headed home, Rhiannon and Scott were really keen for me to capture some of my floodlit dusk shots of the abbey. These shots always make a fabulous finale to the wedding pictures.
A big thank you to this lovely and very appreciative couple for choosing me to be their wedding photographer. I loved photographing your wedding day, and meeting the many amazing people who attended your special day.
Less talk from me now; I hope you enjoy looking through the pictures from their amazing wedding.
